The Router and software are independently tested to IEC62443 – the standard for “Security for Industrial Automation and Control Systems”, addressing the ever increasing question of online security.
The C6 Router enables customers to create a networked automation system – saving time and money with remote monitoring and diagnostic tools. When something goes wrong with a machine it can be looked into from a secure remote connection anywhere in the world using KEB’s secure global network. If the machine is located where there is no Ethernet connection or availability they will benefit from the option of cellular networking – 2G/3G/3G+ connection via any GSM network (SIM card). There are four options of mounting antennas for both internal and external use, to offer the best possible network coverage.
Coupled with this is an option to extended the standard operating temperature range from the standard 0°C to 50°C to -20°C up to 70°C meaning it is ideal for a wider range of applications and environmental conditions.
The router body is only 138mm high, 116mm deep and either 35 or 45mm wide depending upon the model selected. Every C6 Router is made from rugged industrial grade materials – it has a stainless steel enclosure that can be DIN rail or wall mounted and has no fans or moving parts and all four models carry CE and cULus approvals, with an IP20 protection rating.
Depending upon the model chosen, the standard features and options are designed to assist in the remote maintenance and diagnostics, included with the virtual HMI option is a data-logger and scope function. The virtual HMI screen can make it easier for the information to be displayed and understood wherever you are around the world. With the appropriate app and security access it can be accessed on smartphones and tablets too, providing the information an engineer or a machine user.
Communication to other devices is set up using either the WAN or LAN Ethernet ports or the serial port which provides RS232/422/485. So after a few minutes of router configuration, you can have worldwide access to remote devices for maintenance and monitoring – irrespective of device type and manufacturer.
Current successes include, data logging for special purpose machine tools, providing vibration and temperature trend analysis, remote diagnostics and updates, and fault finding on automated systems where the presence of personnel is not permitted during machine operation.
