Lord’s Cricket Ground, widely referred to as the ‘Home of Cricket’ benefited from a short term rental truck from Jungheinrich, during this summers Ashes series against Australia.

With capacity for 28,500 spectators on a match day, a challenge within the ground is to ensure that fans never run short of refreshments. Reliable materials handling equipment is therefore required to deliver supplies of food and beverages to the various retail outlets sited across the ground.

Lord’s has a single counterbalance forklift truck permanently on-site, but during the England v Australia Test Match in July, which saw capacity crowds at the ground across all four days, an extra machine was needed to cope with the spike in demand for snacks and drinks. A short term rental truck was the ideal solution, and MCC opted for a gas powered truck from Jungheinrich’s short term rental fleet.

Speaking about the decision to work with Jungheinrich, MCC logistics manager, Keith Wyatt, said, “Several members of my team recommended Jungheinrich, as they had operated Jungheinrich trucks during last summer’s Olympic Games. I’m really happy with the service they provided and found everyone at Jungheinrich a joy to work with.”

Jungheinrich UK has a range of equipment in its short term rental fleet and has been involved with a number of high profile events during 2013.
