An exciting, interactive event which gives children and families the chance to learn more about exciting career opportunities through hands-on experiences is coming to Coventry next month. The Imagineering Fair is being held in the Ericsson Exhibition Hall at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry on 19-20 November 2016.

Sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover with support from Wasps and the Ricoh Arena, there will be a hive of activity at the Fair with a fantastic array of engineering and technology activities for eight-to-16-year-olds laid on by an equally wide variety of companies and organisations.  From racing cars, rockets and robots to electronics, 3D printing, lasers and mechanical challenges, there will be something to appeal to all tastes.

Many organisations have already confirmed their attendance including: Jaguar Land Rover, Manufacturing Technologies Association, Fanuc Robotics, Coventry Robot Club, GE Aviation, Imagineering Workshops, Rolls-Royce, Vulcan Trust to the Sky and the University of Warwick.

The Imagineering Fair has been held in Coventry every year almost without interruption since it was first established in 2000.  Many thousands of young visitors have experienced Imagineering in action, enjoying the fun activities, engaging with young engineers and learning about inspiring career options.

Bob Shanks, Chairman of the Imagineering Foundation and organiser of the event, said: “This will be a memorable fun family day out and there are plenty of activities to provide hands-on experience of the world of engineering where they can learn how things are designed and made and how they work. The Ericsson Exhibition Hall will be buzzing, and excited youngsters will have the opportunity to expand their creative imaginations and learn more about the technology that we use in our everyday lives and hopefully they will be inspired to become engineers in the future.”

Les Ratcliffe, Head of Community Relations at Jaguar Land Rover, commented: “The automotive industry, including Jaguar Land Rover and our suppliers, need more young engineers. We are proud to sponsor the Imagineering Fair as part of our ‘Inspiring Tomorrow’s Engineers’ global Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education programme and hope the event will inspire more young people to pursue engineering careers. We also offer world of work school visits to our Midlands and Merseyside design, engineering and manufacturing sites and also school STEM challenge projects which are open to young people from across the UK.”

Andy Gibb, Managing Director of the Ricoh Arena, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting an event as exciting and forward thinking as the Imagineering Fair again this year.

“It’s a real coup for the Ricoh Arena and the city of Coventry to have such a varied mix of engineering, science and technology all under one roof for youngsters and adults to sample. The event attracts thousands of families year after year, and we look forward to welcoming everybody again on the day.”

Anyone thinking about pursuing a career in engineering, science or technology should come to the Fair to get involved in the activities, find out all about engineering and technology in a new and entertaining way and talk to young engineers already on the career path.

The Imagineering Fair is organised by the Imagineering Foundation, an independent education charity providing fun, hands-on engineering and technology activities and rewarding personal engagement for young people, including in weekly Imagineering Clubs, working with manufacturers, utilities, engineering organisations and educational centres to inspire the engineers of tomorrow.

The popular two-day show is open on Saturday 19 November from 9.00-5.00pm and Sunday 20 November from 9.00-4.00pm.
