The Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) will be holding the MACH 2012 exhibition from 16 – 20 April 2010. Hundreds of exhibitors have confirmed and as much as 5,000 tonnes of working machinery has already been booked in for the show’s 100th anniversary.
Visitors attending MACH will not only see the latest in metalcutting, forming and grinding that has long been at the heart of the exhibition but will also be able to experience emerging technologies and new processes from a host of world class companies. From additive manufacturing to industrial laser applications and advanced CAD/CAM to the latest developments in metrology, MACH will cater for all of the above.
Visitors to the MACH website can see all the latest products and developments being exhibited. Initial visitor pre-registration is already well ahead of 2010 and 2008 levels again pointing to a buoyant manufacturing sector and a positive exhibition.
MACH 2012 will host three new technology zones: the Welding Village, the Abrasives and Grinding Zone and the Engineering and Laser zone. Also, the Metalforming Machinery Makers’ Association Pavilion has doubled in size in comparison to 2010. MACH 2012 pavilions are expected to provide an excellent opportunity for companies across a range of diverse sectors to display their products.
As well as working machinery and new technology, MACH 2012 will feature an Education and Training zone designed to further the MTA’s goal of promoting engineering based manufacturing as a career to bright, young engineers. The zone will feature the AMRC’s Mantra 3D manufacturing simulator as well as Bloodhound, the supersonic car being built to showcase British engineering capability – and in the process break the 1,000mph barrier.
A seminar programme will feature and offer networking opportunities for participants to meet the speakers and learn how they can put into practice what they have heard. The seminars continue the MACH 2012 theme of providing sector specific applications for new technologies and processes and will be a busy part of the event.

Combined with the buoyant data the MTA has released on engineering output and the capital goods sectors, the 2012 event is poised to be a fitting 100th anniversary for MACH.”
Dr Martin Sharp, president of The Association of Laser Users (AILU) says: “The AILU has, for the first time, taken a pavilion area at MACH 2012, showing our confidence in the future growth of UK manufacturing and the future role of laser materials processing.”
Tony Saunders, of Yamazaki Mazak says: “Mazak will be displaying a selection of our latest CNC lathes, machining centres and multi-tasking machines, from over 200 models across our range, several of which will be making their UK debut at MACH.
