Siemens UK & Ireland has launched a brand new technology hub, a demonstration facility with partner Digital Applications International (DAI) designed to offer oil and gas businesses easy access to a wide range of innovative technologies to help bolster process control and safety management.

The facility, which is located at DAI’s Aberdeen base, forms part of the technology partnership between Siemens and DAI, an IT solutions delivery company. The objective is to enhance the operational efficiency, safety, as well as energy management across the oil and gas industry through effective deployment of the Siemens product suite.

The facility will also boast a range of specialist simulation software, data management, diagnostics and energy management technologies, enabling oil and gas companies and their service providers to explore the full capabilities of the technologies available, whilst drawing on the expertise from the on-site team.

Juergen Maier, CEO of Siemens UK & Ireland, commented: “This launch marks a real milestone in our partnership with DAI – it allows us to bring our expertise and specialist solutions a step closer to customers. Critically it enables businesses to explore new technology capabilities – and use this hub as a testing ground for the oil and gas sector. It is this new way of thinking and approaching innovation that will help boost productivity in the sector – which is needed now more than ever.”

Siemens has worked with DAI since 1982 and as part of the technology partnership, DAI has also been certified as a Siemens Process Safety Partner. The company holds more than 30 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry.

Nigel Mitson, CEO of DAI, added: “Through innovation and value, we have been and continue to be committed to delivering the support needed by the oil and gas industry. We have been doing this for more than 30 years. The opening of the demonstration facility at our Aberdeen site means we are able to boost process control, safety and energy management across the industry, by making the Siemens solution more accessible to customers from a local base”.
