At this year’s Interplas exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham, igus will present food-grade tribo-tape, maintenance-free plain, spherical and linear bearings as well as self-lubricating energy chains and chainflex cables.

One of the main highlights at the igus stand will be the unveiling of its new tribo-tape material, made from tribologically optimised, food-grade iglidur A160 material, which is coloured blue for easy identification. Designed to reduce wear on a wide range of applications, thanks to its low friction and abrasion values, the tribo-tape has maintenance-free dry-running properties to improve sliding surfaces wherever required.

igus will also be showcasing its full service offering. With its speedigus range of manufacturing services, igus can offer engineers solutions from concept or prototype to full production volume parts. The speedigus offering includes: speedicut, a rapid machining service, speedimold, a rapid prototyping and injection moulding service, and the recently launched speedifit, a service which supplies bespoke complete bearing assemblies and solutions. These services enable time and cost savings making it easy for customers to achieve cost-effective bespoke solutions.

Also featured on the stand will be igus’ latest stock plates, which increase design flexibility for engineers when customising special parts. The recently launched iglidur J stock plate material, boasts low coefficients of friction in dry operation, low moisture absorption and high wear and chemical resistance while requiring no maintenance. The stock plate material is also suitable for parts that need to withstand temperatures from -50 ºC to 120 ºC. Available in a variety of thicknesses from 2mm to 40mm, engineers can obtain machined parts such as wear plates and strips quickly and cost-effectively with less waste.

A wide range of igus energy chains will also be on display at the event. The energy chains are fabricated from high performance plastics – they are tough, resistant to corrosion and impact, and offer high UV, temperature and precipitation stability. They are also self-lubricating so require little to no maintenance and have very long working lives, making them a very cost-effective choice for any application.

Complementing the energy chains are igus chainflex cables, which have been specially developed with constantly moving applications in mind. The chainflex cables offer reliable performance with high cycle rates, and very small bending radii of up to four times the outer cable diameter.

Throughout the exhibition, experts from igus will be on hand to provide advice and guidance on selecting bearings, energy chains and cable assemblies for your specific application.
