Contrinex’s innovative PocketCodr unit simplifies the monitoring and configuration of IO-Link sensors. The Bluetooth unit and its companion app for Apple and Android phones and tablets provide access to the extra facilities and information offered over IO-Link on factory automation sensors offered by many manufacturers. At PLUS Automation, for example, we use it to reconfigure Contrinex normally-open sensors that we hold in stock, into normally-closed sensors, when requested.
The quality of the app quickly becomes apparent, when it quickly and simply connects to your phone, without the need to fill in passwords. The app will automatically download the IO-Link IODD configuration details to match the sensor that it is plugged into the unit. You can also select IODD files that you have downloaded to your phone or tablet.
The PocketCodr app brings the simplicity of a typical phone app to the monitoring and configuration of a sensor, without the need to touch a PLC or consider any code. Watch real-time parametric changes on live data charts, and store, and retrieve settings, which can also be shared with other users, via email, or WhatsApp, etc.
The App’s graphical user interface, includes ‘Action Widgets’, the more advanced of which (such as Teach, Set SSC, Counter, Alarm, etc.) are supported by Contrinex’s SMART Sensors, speeding up the configuration of these digital or analogue distance measurement sensing (DMS) sensors.
Therefore, PocketCodr provides simple access to the additional power offered in many factory automation sensors when accessed via IO-Link. It also offers a simple route to configure SMART sensors, so that for example, an engineer or SME business owner can test and configure a unique solution – Use a readily available, off-the-shelf Contrinex SMART inductive or photoelectric sensor, to develop a unique system, without ever needing to connect them to a PLC.
