We are pleased to offer cameras using this highly rated sensor from four of our key suppliers of camera products. Cameras can be supplied with either USB3.0 or GigE Vision interfaces.
The Sony IMX174 Pregius sensor is a new-generation CMOS sensor with global shutter, ideal for machine vision applications.
In applications where a high-speed moving subject is to be imaged, standard CMOS image sensors with a rolling shutter often generate distorted images, which are a problem, especially for industrial use. The new sensors feature a global shutter function and are able to capture high-speed moving images without distortion. These high dynamic range, high resolution sensors with 2.3MP (1920×1200 pixels in a 16:9 image ratio; 1/1.2” format, 13.4mm image circle), combined with various functions including trigger mode and ROI (Region of Interest) mode, frequently required in industrial applications.
We can offer cameras from ISG Lightwise, Matrix Vision, Sentech and The Imaging Source which incorporate these sensors. If you would like to get more details on any of these cameras please talk to one of technical sales staff on 01635 30345 or email sales@alrad.co.uk giving details of your application – and we shall be pleased to advise on the most appropriate camera.
Note:-Pregius is a trademark of Sony Corporation. The Pregius is global shutter pixel technology for active pixel-type CMOS image sensors that use Sony’s low-noise CCD structure, and realizes high picture quality.
Grain sorting application using the EVT Eye Vision EyeCheck 7800

There are many types of grains, such as wheat, barley, rye, rice, etc. The sorting of various grain products is made more difficult because there are many different types of wheat etc. all growing in different countries under different conditions.
Additionally, different wheat cultivars can occasionally become mixed up during harvest, but breeders and seed companies rely upon pure lots. The grains therefore have to be sorted – and this is not an easy task. Differences can be very subtle and the grains are very small. Also, wheat tends to be processed in large quantities and human inspection would be much too slow and extremely expensive.
Therefore, machine vision systems can be a very useful tool in this application – for example the EyeVision software on smart cameras of the EyeCheck 7xxx series. Of course, the sheer volume of grains that must be inspected to keep up with production rates is a difficult challenge for most computer vision inspection systems.
One possible solution for the grain industries is to use a highly specified smart camera, such as the EyeCheck 7800.
The EyeCheck 7800 not only has an 85k FPGA (field-programmable gate array) and a 4.2 MegaPixel CMOS sensor, but also has a built-in dedicated Dual Core processor. In combination with the EyeVision 3.0 software, it is possible to capture images of extremely small objects moving at high speed. Thanks to the FPGA, the image capture and image evaluation can be realized in real time.
Because the inspection programs created with the EyeVision software are hard-coded into the FPGA, it is extremely fast and robust in processing large amounts of data over a lengthy period of time. Additionally, the FPGA can be programmed with graphical tools.
All these features are included in the EyeVision image processing software, which is also graphically programmable. The easy-to-handle drag-and-drop programming makes it easy to create inspection programs, even without programming skills.

A line scan camera system for imaging below the surface
Conventional line scan cameras are perfect for finding defects in products on high speed conveyor production lines as long as the defects are on the surface.
However, they cannot see what is below the surface. There are many applications where information from below the surface would be helpful.
To gain this sub-surface information, a special type of camera system is required. Conventionally, X-ray cameras have been used. However, ionizing radiation can be a concern for the users.
We can offer an alternative solution. Terahertz imaging from TeraSense facilitates a unique way of imaging below the surface.
The ultrafast terahertz linear scanner represents an entirely NEW TeraSense product, which features both unprecedented imaging speed of 5 kHz and ease of integration into any industrial process. The line scanner is built specifically to satisfy the needs for Non-Destructive Testing and Quality Control in many industrial applications employing high speed conveyors belts. This product ideally fits most conveyor systems used in various industries, with a belt moving speeds up to 15 m/s.
The TeraSense ultrafast line-scanner consists of two parts: a THz camera and THz generator – both optimized & synchronized to each other. The generator is supplied with a specially configured horn antenna designed to cover the entire scanning area across conveyor belt. The horn spreads THz beam evenly and ensures that the whole THz radiation power is properly delivered from the generator into the camera. The camera pixel size determines image resolution of 1.5 x 3.0 mm, which is more than ample to support imaging in most industrial applications.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES:
? NO ionizing radiation and is entirely safe (unlike X-ray)
? Customer-tailored solutions available
? Uniform pixel-to-pixel sensitivity
? CE Certification of Compliance
? Plug-and-play design
? LOW COST
Rapid non-destructive characterization and terahertz imaging of objects & defects in uniform materials or under coated surfaces has never been easier and faster than with our TeraFAST line-scanner! Its record-breaking image acquisition rate opens doors to many industrial applications for NDT & QC /QA.
Suitable industries for terahertz imaging include Pharmaceutical Industry, Lumbering & Wood Processing Industry, Food Industry, FMCG packaging, OEM Construction Materials & Building Trades and Automobile Industry.
