HBM’s T40 family of torque transducers has been developed to set industrial standards with its integrated, magnetic rotational speed measuring system utilizing reference signals that allows rotational speed and positional controls to be implemented in test benches. The rugged construction of the T40 family is designed to give high accuracy and excellent reliability.
The integrated, magnetic measurement system for the HBM T40 family has been specifically designed to overcome the effects of humidity, condensation, dust, oil and grease that restrict the effectiveness of optical measurement systems.
The T40B family of torque transducers provides measuring ranges of up to 50 Nm for various applications while the T40FM range covers maximum range options of up to 80 kNm. All models in the T40 range benefit from an output pulse count over all ranges of 1024 pulses per revolution. This makes it possible to implement resolutions of up to 12 bits in any downstream electronics depending on the evaluation method such as pulse quadrupling.
The reference signal is generated by a separate magnetic field that includes a sensor. This enables the integrated system to provide signals for integrating the rotational speed and angle of rotation. The direction of rotation is detected by two square-wave output signals at the stator that are electrically phase-shifted through 90°.
The rotational speed measuring system has a high tolerance for application-related vibrations because the radial or axial distance between the sensor and the magnetic ring is up to 2.5 mm. This allows full use to be made of the maximum rotational speed specified for the transducer, in conjunction with the rotational speed measuring system.
