Tribopolymer expert igus will be exhibiting its range of energy chains and continuous flex cables, as well as plain bearings, xiros plastic ball bearings and linear systems suitable for use in medical applications at this year’s Medtec.

One of the highlights for visitors to the igus stand (H310) will be the e-cord micro energy chain for the safe guidance of capillary tubes. Capillary tubes are often routed in miniature hoses, whose diameters measure just a few millimetres and must not be bent in radii of less than 45mm in dynamic applications. If this is not adhered to in the design or during operation, the hoses can snap or kink and this leads to a process failure. Permanently secure routing in pre-defined radii poses a technical challenge, this is solved by the e-cord micro, which is made of high-performance, elastic tribopolymers.

Also a key focus on the stand is the xiros range of ball bearing products, which are made of the cost-effective yet high-performance xirodur B180 material. With its self-lubricating and media resistant properties, this material is also FDA compliant and it is therefore suitable for a wide range of medical applications.

Throughout the Medtec event, technical experts at the igus stand will be on hand to provide visitors with practical advice and guidance on selecting igus products and solutions for their own specific application.
