The 2024 Instrumentation Excellence Awards (IEAs), organised by Instrumentation Monthly publisher Datateam Business Media, will take place on Thursday 24th October at the Grand Connaught Rooms and will once again take place alongside the Electronics Industry Awards, making it the night of the year for networking.

Launched in 2022, the event has grown from strength to strength. Last year, the event was hosted by celebrities Shaun Williamson and Alan Dedicoat. Attendees enjoyed live entertainment, including singing performances by host Shaun Williamson, as well as a delicious meal and a disco. This year’s event will continue in this tradition of celebration, making it an unmissable night for everyone in the instrumentation sector. ABB, BWW, VEGA Controls, Micro-Epsilon, ifm electronic and Napier have already announced their support for the 2024 Instrumentation Excellence Awards as sponsors of the event.

Commenting on the IEAs, Display Technology’s Emma Claridge described the event as: “A fun evening, bringing the industry together. The event was very well organised and the Datateam staff were very friendly and welcoming. A pleasure to attend.”

The Instrumentation Excellence Awards feature an array of expertly curated categories, designed to reflect and reward the very best from all corners of the sector. The IEAs are split into three categories: Product Awards, Business Awards and the Individual Awards.

The categories for this series of awards comprise: Cables & Connectors Product of the Year; Calibration Product of the Year; Cases & Enclosures Product of the Year; Data Acquisition Product of the Year; Flow, Level & Control Product of the Year; Gas Detection Product of the Year; IoT Product of the Year; Monitoring & Metering Product of the Year; Sensor Product of the Year; Signal Conditioning Product of the Year; Software Solution of the Year; Test & Measurement Product of the Year; and Thermal Imaging Product of the Year.

The Business Awards honour companies that have exhibited excellence services delivered. The categories for this series of awards comprise: Digital Transformation Award; Distributor of the Year; Best Marketing Campaign; Excellence in Innovation; PR Agency of the Year; Manufacturer of the Year; and the Sustainability Award.

Finally, the special Industry Personality Award is designed to recognise an individual that plays a significant part in the success of the instrumentation sector. The winner of this category will have made continuous contributions to the sector, boosted their company’s profile and worked closely with their customers and suppliers. The 2023 winner of the award was Amina Hamidi, PhD, from ABB Measurement & Analytics. Through her work, Hamidi has taken ABB’s instrumentation business closer to customers while building an inclusive, innovation-driven work environment.

Are we running our business in a way that is right for our people, the environment, our customers, the industry and ultimately, the wider society? Reflecting on this helps me make better informed decisions. I thank the team at the Instrumentation Excellence Awards for this recognition, and I am most grateful to my talented colleagues for all their hard work and dedication that helps us make a difference to the industries we serve – and the world around us.”
