Two of the world’s large suppliers of visualisation systems for the oil & gas industry will join forces to demonstrate a control room display, designed for the most demanding process management and control room applications. At the Electrosonic Oil & Gas Technology Open Day event, to be held in Aberdeen on 4th June, Mitsubishi Electric’s DLP displays will be paired with Thinklogical’s high-performance fibre-optic signal management solution to demonstrate a turn-key application enabling operators to access critical data quickly and reliably.

As an established supplier of automation, environmental and process control systems, Mitsubishi Electric has installed over 55,000 control room displays around the world. Thinklogical is a global provider of secure, high-performance keyboard/video/mouse (KVM) signal extension and switching systems for video-rich, big data computing applications for the oil and gas industry. Typical applications for both company’s products include operating centres, control rooms, training and simulation, 3-D modelling and visualisation, security and surveillance.

At the Electrosonic Technology Day, Mitsubishi will be demonstrating a DLP cube application comprising of four 62WE Seventy Series displays. Each of the 62” cubes delivers 1920 x 1200 pixels (WUXGA), 1500:1 contrast ratio and up to 1100 cd/m² brightness. Mitsubishi’s unique air-cooled LED light source requires no servicing for its entire 80,000 to 100,000 hour lifespan, meaning over 9 years of continuous, maintenance-free 24/7 operation.

A key feature of all Seventy Series products is versatility. Users are able to select a variety of input card options to suit their requirements. Thinklogical manufactures its own compatible input card allowing it to connect directly with Mitsubishi’s Seventy Series displays. The card accepts dual 6.25 Gbps inputs through a set of LC fibre-optic connectors, eliminating the need for external fibre receivers, DVI cabling and associated power supplies for increased security and simpler, cleaner installations with fewer points of failure.

Alongside its range of world-class DLP cubes, Mitsubishi Electric will also demonstrate its latest LCD tiled display, the LM55P1. The 2 x 2 LCD display wall to be featured at the Technology Day is a premium specification, LED-lit LCD display, designed specifically for demanding control room applications. The LM55P1 is equipped with a wide range of features, such as built-in OPS slot, full compatibility with AMX Device Discovery and Crestron RoomView control systems, together with Mitsubishi’s patented colour space control for highly accurate colour reproduction. The super narrow bezel display has built-in frame compensation, enabling tiled displays of up to 5 x 5 configuration to be created with no external processor required. In very compact locations, a specially-designed wall bracket allows complete front-access capability, while the thin bezel allows the displays to fit almost seamlessly together for maximum legibility. The P1 model is also available in a 46” version, enabling sophisticated display walls to be installed, even where space is restricted.
