Welcome to new and returning readers of our newsletter “Servo Snippets”. This month our focus is on our Virtual Lunch and Learn Programme, our Food Grade Planetary AES/ AERS series, a new GL/GLS Series for AGV applications coming shortly, and a reminder about Brexit and the potential impact of a no- deal exit. Tech Tips are featured as usual.

We are offering virtual, individualized virtual visits. Focused on smaller groups, we are giving personalized product introductions and product updates so engineers can design armed with the latest information and knowledge.

And we’ll email you the lunch!

All attendees will receive a digital gift card via email for lunch. Click the link below to sign up and we will reach out to you to set up the details.

Food Grade Planetary Range

With food processing machine operators facing increasing requirements to keep the manufacturing environment clean and contamination free, stainless steel gearboxes are becoming a more viable option for servo applications to enable wash- down procedures without the risk of corrosion or potentially toxic contamination from paint peel.
We have an ideal solution for precision economical stainless-steel gearboxes with our AES & AERS range. All external gearbox elements are manufactured from stainless steel material, filled with food grade grease and sealed to IP67. They are manufactured to the same technical specification as our AE economy helical gearboxes, so you can now have a proven performance in a stainless- steel housing.

AES and AERS gearboxes come with the same 5- year warranty and a fast delivery, as do all our other precision servo gearbox products – this means you can have a product and supply chain solution you can rely on.

(Coming Soon) GL / GLS Range

We are pleased to announce our new gearbox: GL/GLS series will be available shortly.

The GL/GLS gearbox is a special design for High Radial Load applications, e.g. for AGV Wheel Drive or Belt & Pulley.

The GLS provides with an out-stretching input shaft as option. Watch this space for more details shortly

Brexit Reminder
There are only 4 truly global manufacturers of precision servo gearboxes who can offer a full range of products covering the wide variety of applications

3 of the 4 are in Germany

Only one – Apex Dynamics has a volume manufacturing facility outside Europe and manufactures more than 50,000 precision servo gearbox units a month and is able to guarantee continuing supply arrangements to UK customers under current terms, irrespective of the potential UK / EU trade impasse/ trade debacle

Tech Tips

Each month we highlight tips in the application of servo gearboxes in motion control systems

Inertia Matching can be crucial – When sizing an application that demands precise positioning and speed changes the inertia differential between the load and servo motor is critical to ensure that the motor can control the applications motion changes smoothly. Specifying the correct gearbox ratio to help match the inertias can be just as critical as the servo motor selection itself.

Correct Motor Power and Ratios – Correct sizes for an application can save cost but also product size and weight. Especially when considering which motor and gearbox selection to use, always look at the true combined output torque and speed. As changing the combination of motor powers, speeds along with gearbox ratios can help to optimise to the ideal solution and can save oversizing and adding additional product size, weight and costs.

If you have any kind of question, please contact us to help us deliver your servo gearbox requirements for both new and existing applications – we have many suitable drop-in replacements and the largest range of ratios available
