TestWorks Group provides comprehensive solutions in automation, design, manufacturing and test. We have wide-ranging skills in automation, including industrial robotics and vision systems, in addition to electronic and electro-mechanical product design, manufacturing and consultancy, automated test solutions and software development.

We operate from five sites within the UK – Hitchin, Emsworth, Cambridge, Aylesbury and Dunfermline.

With the acquisition of Adept Automation, Aylesbury earlier this year, our capabilities and resources have been enhanced further.

Our automation capabilities encompass 6-Axis, SCARA and Cartesian (X/Y/Z) robots, including high speed Delta/Quattro, vision systems for inspection, manufacturing and sorting, plus a range of automation equipment such as vibratory bowl and linear feeders, elevators, conveyors and storage hoppers.

Examples of custom automated solutions we have developed and built include a ‘FOUP’ handler for semiconductor wafers. Throughout the semiconductor production process, devices are initially developed on a thin disc of silicon (normally referred to as a ‘wafer’). During the production cycle these wafers must not be exposed to particles or contamination. In order to maintain the level of cleanliness required (far greater than the cleanliness levels witnessed within an operating theatre), wafers are only ever transported in hermetically sealed boxes. These boxes (known as Front Opening Universal Pods or ‘FOUP’s for short) have a front face door that has a complex turnbuckle lock feature.

In order to gain access to the wafers within, the door must be captured, unlocked and then withdrawn horizontally, and taken clear to give free access to the wafers.

This system was developed to fully automate the process, and to ensure that no mechanical stress was applied to the wafers.

Other solutions include hard drive stacking and transfer systems, an automated videoconferencing unit test system, a three-axis gimbal table for testing an avionics product, and an automated milk crate inspection system.

We also offer a full rebuild and refurbish solution on all ranges of vibratory parts feeder equipment, even if not originally manufactured by ourselves.

TestWorks Group develops software and firmware in-house, and can therefore provide a complete solution to your robotic and automation requirements.
