Data Translation, a designer and manufacturer of USB data acquisition modules, USB and Ethernet measurement instrumentation and software solutions, has launched the DT8824 Ethernet data acquisition module for easy remote monitoring of measurements via an integrated web interface.

The DT8824 Ethernet data acquisition module is designed for ultra high stability and accuracy. Its four galvanically isolated differential inputs each have their own separate 24-bit A/D converter. With 10ppm accuracy, a temperature coefficient of 0.05µV/°C and a common mode rejection >150dB, the module delivers data acquisition results claimed to be 20 times better than comparable measurements solutions.

A built-in web interface allows configuring input parameters and monitoring the measurements locally or at remote sites by using a web browser.

The new Ethernet data acquisition module features Data Translation’s ISO-Channel technology said to guarantee high stability and accuracy. This technology includes custom DC/DC converters and digital opto-couplers that provide full channel-to-channel isolation of up to 1,000V. The inputs can be sampled simultaneously at a sampling frequency of up to 4800Hz per channel.

With input voltage ranges of ±10V and individually programmable gains of 1, 8, 16 and 32, the DT8824 achieves a maximum resolution of 0.07µV. Removable screw terminals on the module allow quick and easy signal connections. Four digital, fully isolated digital outputs are provided in addition to the analog channels. The digital outputs are designed as solid state relays that operate from ±30V at currents up to 400mA AC or DC. Using the Trigger Bus, up to 16 modules can be synchronised and up to 64 channels can be externally triggered.

The rugged steel enclosure makes the DT8824 suitable for use as a portable device or for mounting in a 19 inch rack. The instrument ships ready-to-measure, including a web-based application for viewing, graphing, logging and analysing the measurement channels. In addition to limit checking, external processes can be monitored and controlled. The package also contains IVI-COM drivers, .NET class libraries and a Win32 software development kit.
