The UI-3140CP Rev2 is one of the latest additions to the new generation of USB3 industrial cameras from IDS (Imaging Development Systems GmbH) and features the 1.3 MPixel CMOS sensor from ON Semiconductor. The global shutter, in combination with the high frame rate of 169 frames per second, allows operation with fast moving objects, making it ideally suited to a wide range of applications including machine vision, inspection and automation.
The 1.3 MP Python 1300 monochrome or colour sensor from ON Semiconductor offers an excellent combination of image quality and speed, operating at 169 fps in free run or trigger mode at full 1280 x 1024 pixel resolution. A number of different image sizes are available, allowing lower spatial resolution to be combined with even higher frame rates. A frame rate of 527 fps is possible for a 640 x 512 pixel image.
The UI-3140CP Rev2 is supplied with the IDS Software Suite, an identical software package that is provided for all IDS cameras. This allows all the camera parameters to be configured individually and makes integration easy.
The latest version of the software features an environmental protection function, which monitors conditions that might affect the operation of the camera such as high temperatures and notifies the user. The camera will automatically protect the camera by putting it into a safe operating mode if no action is taken. Another new feature is the ability to manually adjust the percentage of white pixels in an image, which is especially useful for high contrast images such as in traffic monitoring.
