The 12th International Conference on Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics took place in Colmar, Alsace, France, from July 21st to 23rd.

ICINCO 2015 was held in conjunction with ICETE 2015, ICSOFT 2015, SIMULTECH 2015 and DATA 2015 covering a broad range of related fields, including any aspect of Control, Automation and Robotics.

After a strict selection process, the ICINCO program included full papers (14% of submissions) and short papers (29% of submissions). Additionally 31% of submissions papers were accepted for poster presentation. With these acceptance ratios, we can assume that ICINCO next editions tend to be a quality conferences with high caliber.

All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support.

SCITEPRESS is a member of CrossRef and every paper is given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library.

A short list of presented papers will be selected so that revised and extended versions of these papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in a LNEE Series book.

The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), INSPEC, DBLP, EI (Elsevier Index) and Scopus.

In addition to the presentation sessions, ICINCO 2015 included four outstanding keynote lectures, which are relevant to today’s lines of research and technical innovation. These talks were presented by internationally distinguished researchers, namely:

·         Krzysztof Kozlowski, Poznan University of Technology, Poland

Title: Formation Control and Vision Based Localization of System of Mobile Robots

·         Gerhard Schweitzer, ETH Zurich, Switzerland

Title: Controlled Magnetic Bearings for Smart Machines

·         Oliver Brock, TU Berlin, Germany

Title Mobile Manipulation: Why Are Humans so Much Better? And How Can We Change That?

·         Faïz Ben Amar, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Institut Systèmes Intelligents et de Robotique, France

Title: Rough Terrain Mobile Robotics: From Design to Motion Control and Planning

The papers were organised in 7 parallel sessions ranging the hot topics of nowadays such as Intelligent Control Systems, Optimization, Robotics, Automation, Signal Processing, Sensors, Systems Modelling and Control, and Industrial Engineering, Production and Management.

The organising committee included the ICINCO conference Co-Chairs: Joaquim Filipe (Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal | INSTICC, Portugal) and Kurosh Madani (University of Paris-EST Créteil – UPEC, France) and ICINCO Program Co-Chairs: Oleg Gusikhin (Ford Research & Adv. Engineering, United States) and Jurek Sasiadek (Carleton University, Canada).

ICINCO 2015 was sponsored by INSTICC (The Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication), Co-organised by Université Haute-Alsace, Technically Co-sponsored by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and CSS (IEEE Control Systems Society) and RAS (IEEE Robotics & Automation Society) and Co-Sponsored by IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control). The Conference was also held in cooperation with ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), ACM SIGAI (ACM Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence), EUROMICRO, AAAI (Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence), APCA (Portuguese Association of Automatic Control), INNS (The International Neural Network Society), APNNA (Asia Pacific Neural Network Assembly) and EUROBOTICS AISBL.

Regarding the Best Paper Award, ICINCO has recognised the paper “Fast and Robust Keypoint Detection in Unstructured 3-D Point Clouds” from Jens Garstka and Gabriele Peters  and the Best PhD Project award “Multi-objective Optimisation for Control and Process Operation” from Helem Sabina Sánchez and Ramon Vilanova. As the Best Student Paper Award, ICINCO acknowledged the paper untitled “Comparison of Two Radar-based Scanning-techniques for the Use in Robotic Mapping” by Paul Fritsche and Bernardo Wagner.

After a successful 2015 edition in France, ICINCO 2016 will be held in Lisbon, Portugal from-29 to 31, July. For more updated information, please visit the conference website http://www.icinco.org/.
