Bitflow Inc – 20 years on and still setting new standards in machine vision image capture

bitflow ctn pc2BitFlow Inc just celebrated its 20th birthday and yet another new leading edge frame grabber is being launched. The Cyton-CXP is based on BitFlow’s brand new PCIe Gen 2.0 platform. To develop the Cyton platform, BitFlow started with a clean slate, and asked themselves, “what does a next generation frame grabber need?” Of course, it needs a Gen 2.0 PCIe x8 back end for the ultimate high speed access to host memory. It also needs a sophisticated DMA engine to handle the demands of new camera interface standards. New standards demand flexibility. For example, CXP cameras will soon be able to put out streams of random sized ROIs, something BitFlow’s previous generation DMA engine was not capable of. Finally, BitFlow know – based on years of experience of making frame grabbers – that it needs flexible and powerful I/O, triggering and routing. The CoaXPress front end is based on their Karbon-CXP, but upgraded and ready for the coming changes in the CXP standards. The Cyton platform is the foundation for today’s and tomorrow’s frame grabbers, be it CoaXPress, Camera Link, or whatever new standards emerge from the Machine Vision industry. E2v ELiiXA+ 16k/8k line scan cameras offer both high speed and high resolution

eliixa plus 16ke2v’s next generation of line scan cameras are setting new, high standards for line rate and image quality. Thanks to e2v’s recently developed multi-line CMOS technology, the camera provides an unmatched 100,000 lines/s and combines high response with an extremely low noise level; this delivers high signal to noise ratio even when short integration times are required or when illumination is limited. In the colour version, the 5µm size pixels are arranged in four active lines and dual line filter configuration allowing the camera to be operated in several modes: True Colour Mode with 10µm R,G,B pixels to provide equivalent colour fidelity to 10µm pixel tri-linear solutions with advanced immunity to web variation, or Full Definition Mode with a unique 16,384 R,G,B pixel resolution. 

In the monochrome version an outstanding data rate in excess of 1.6 Gpixels per second is delivered via a new CoaXPress interface, allowing for extremely high throughput.  This opens up a multitude of new possibilities for the next generation of inspection systems for demanding applications, such as flat panel display, PCB and solar cell inspection.

ISVI –CORP – CoaXPress cameras

ISVI Corp specializes in advanced camera technology for the high resolution, high speed cameras for the Aerospace, Military, Automation,  AOI, 2D/3D inspection and Wafer Inspection applications.

ISVI was one of the first companies to design and develop the CoaXPress cameras with 4 BNC connectors, for applications that require high resolution combined with high speed.

The CXP technology uses 4 coaxial cables or channels and each channel can transmit up to 6.25Gbs giving a max of 25Gbps for all 4 channels. Using the coaxial cables will increase the data bandwidth, with cable lengths of up to 40 meters compared to the maximum standard CameraLink cable length of 10 meters.

The ISVI CXP cameras speeds can be configured from CXP-1 to CXP-6. You can use 4 cameras to one frame grabber at a slower speed by configuring the camera to CXP-1, or you can use 1 camera at a max speed using the CXP-6 configuration.

The ISVI new 29MP and the 12MP CXP cameras are available as Mono or Colour (8bit/ 10bit/12bit Raw Bayer). The 25MP CXP camera is available in Mono or Colour (8bit/10bit).  All cameras have auto or manual white balance, Gamma setting; low noise and high dynamic range, with 25G shock and vibration rating.

The lens mount is available in F-mount (with flange back of 46.5mm) and the M42-mount (with flange back of 17mm). ISVI offer M42 Telecentric lenses for high accuracy and no distortion.
