Henkel, the adhesive and sealants manufacturer whose brands include Loctite®, Bonderite and Technomelt, has just confirmed several new products are to be featured on its stand at Southern Manufacturing 2014.
The first is a technological breakthrough as it combines the characteristics of an instant adhesive and an epoxy. The new Loctite® 4090 hybrid has the fixture speed of a cyanoacrylate and the durability of an epoxy, a unique combination that brings the benefits of instant fixture strength to structural bonding applications.
Also new at the show are two proven retaining adhesives whose benefits have been extended through continuous development.
Retaining adhesives are used to secure bearings, bushes and cylindrical parts into housings and onto shafts. Loctite® 638 and 648 are time-served products for these applications but their performance has now been enhanced by increased temperature resistance and greater oil tolerance. They also have the ability to cure well on passive metal surfaces such as aluminium or stainless steel.

The final new product is a re-launch of a cost saving protective coating for welding processes. Formerly Aerodag Ceramishield, Loctite® SF 7900 Ceramic Shield prevents weld spatter from adhering to welding equipment. The coating forms a dry film that ensures uninterrupted welding for up to 8 hours without the need for re-application.
Loctite® SF 7900 Ceramic Shield increases productivity by up to 10% while reducing the cost of consumables but a substantial 70%.
