Positive indications about the buoyancy of the engineering sector have come from the recruitment policies of major industry organisations.

GE Energy, Jaguar Land Rover, Network Rail and Rolls Royce will be among renowned organisations taking on new staff at The National Engineering & Construction Recruitment Exhibition (NECR) taking place on Friday 29th November and Saturday 30th November at The NEC Birmingham.

Together with Contact Singapore, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Denso, Assystem, James Walker, PeraSpires and others who will also be there to recruit experienced engineers as well as recent graduates, they indicate that a wide range of organisations covering many areas of engineering are investing in extra skilled staff.

The NECR is well suited both for those who are keen to start their careers as well as those looking for the next step on the upward ladder in both the engineering and construction sectors.

As well as exciting job vacancies, visitors will also find valuable free assistance at the Careers Advice & Interview Clinic, the CV Consultation Clinic, Presentations and the Professional Development Hub.

The Professional Development Hub is open to all visitors, giving them the chance to meet representatives from major engineering industry institutions and discover how they might help with Continuous Professional Development. It is a popular element during the exhibition and provides valuable advice on professional registration and personal career development.

The Women in Engineering Forum, supported by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), takes place within the event on 29th November. It provides a networking opportunity for women at all stages of their careers, allowing them to share experiences, make new contacts and hear about exciting new vacancies.

For university students, the Engineering Challenge gives teams of students from universities across the country the chance to compete against each other to design, build and test their inventions in a challenging task to win a prize of £500. Watching the teams in action is both educational and entertaining. To enter a team please e-mail necr@vmgl.com.
