Roger Evans MBE, managing director at Schaeffler (UK), has won the Manufacturing Champion Award, a prestigious regional award in the EEF/Aldermore Future Manufacturing Awards.

The Manufacturing Champion Award celebrates the achievements of individuals who, through vision, dedication, hard work and tireless involvement, have made a significant contribution to UK manufacturing.

After receiving his award on 29th January 2015, Roger Evans will go on to find out if he has won the national title at an awards gala dinner in April 2015. As Roger Evans commented: “This Award is testament to my team as much as me. It recognises the importance of people in the manufacturing sector and the difference they can make and I am absolutely delighted to have won.”

Schaeffler UK’s manufacturing plant in Llanelli, South Wales produces precision engine components including general bearings and mechanical tappets for the automotive industry. The plant, which was established in 1957, employs 250 people including an annual intake of four apprentices.

Chris Meldrum, regional sales director of Invoice Finance at Aldermore, sponsor of the Manufacturing Champion Award, added: “British manufacturing needs ambitious leaders to drive economic growth and promote manufacturing success. Roger is passionate about manufacturing and dedicated to seeing it go from strength to strength. He is helping to drive UK industry forward and is a worthy winner of this prestigious award – we wish him the best of luck for the national finals.”
