UC-F77 Ultrasonic Sensor with Wide Measuring Range and Comprehensive Communication

The new compact UC-F77 ultrasonic sensor series from Pepperl+Fuchs combine a wide detection range with a minimal dead band. The parameters of these sensors, including the beam width, are very easy to adjust directly on the device. An IO-Link interface forms the basis for Industry 4.0.

For the new device series, the developers from the Mannheim-based automation specialists have packed an exceptionally wide performance spectrum into the housing, which is just 31 mm high. Thanks to the patented ultrasonic pulse generation, the sensor has the shortest dead band of the devices available on the market relative to its detection range (up to 800 mm). The measuring range is therefore wide enough that the sensor can be used for a wide spectrum of applications.

Parameterization is extremely simple and can either be carried out on the device itself or using the parameterization software (PACTware™). The width of the sound beam can be calibrated with precision to the application at hand, and false targets can be easily suppressed. As the only sensor of its size, the UC-F77 provides automatic synchronization. The ultrasonic pulses of up to ten sensors can be coordinated without any external intervention and the devices can be easily operated in close proximity to each other.

In its housing size the UC-F77 is the first sensor on the market offering an IO-Link interface. It allows to access valuable diagnostic data and additional communication options. The sensors can be mechanically attached in a variety of ways, and an additional installation variant is available with the “side-looker” version. The user has the option of covering a wide variety of applications with a single sensor type and thereby reducing both complexity and storage requirements. The devices are ideally suited for use in logistics, packaging, or material handling, among other applications.
