Established as the UK’s only dedicated national sensors, test, measurement & instrumentation exhibition Sensing Technology 2012 takes place on 25th and 26th September in Hall 3 of the NEC, Birmingham and for 2012 is co-located with six other exhibitions making this the biggest industrial event of the year
In response to demands from both visitors and the industry as a whole, the Sensing Technology 2012 exhibition will offer even more to those visiting the event – which takes place centrally in the UK at Birmingham’s NEC.
For a start, the exhibition has been opened up to companies offering more than just sensors this year – other types of instrumentation will also be exhibited, including test and measurement solutions, calibrators, analysis and metering products, microscopes and so on. Visitors will now have the chance to see a variety of solutions for their entire application requirements, and get the chance to speak to more engineers.
“Sometimes the basic requirements of the electronics, food, medical and pharmaceutical industries can be remarkably similar, even if they end up being packaged slightly differently. The need for commercially competitive, quality, long-life product solutions crosses many industry boundaries, and I believe Sensing Technology 2012 can bring many of them together all in one place,” explained Andy Mangell, managing director of Bronkhorst, which is exhibiting again this year.
Over the years the organisers of Sensing Technology have discovered that visitors attend the exhibition because they have a specific product/technology that they are looking for or want to uncover more information on. Shows such as this one enable the visitor to have lengthy discussions about applications, and as past exhibitors have noted, the visitors are all highly knowledgeable, with a real reason to attend the show.
Commenting on his expectations this year, Mark Gradwell, marketing communications manager at National Instruments UK & Ireland, said: “Sensing Technology should help us connect with engineers looking to build test, measurement, monitoring and control applications.”
He added that last year the exhibition was beneficial as it enabled staff from the company to meet engineers with a broad spectrum of measurement and control needs and applications, from across multiple industries and geographies, in the one place.
Ian Goldsbrough, sales manager UK & Ireland, InfraTec Infrared, said: “This year visitors will be able to see a larger variety of product lines within one exhibition, but still within a specialist market area.”
Co-located events
Of added benefit this year, the exhibition will be co-located with a number of other shows. It will be taking place within Hall 3 with MM, MEMS and NANO; while MEDIPLAS and TCT Live will be in the adjacent Hall 3a. Also taking place during the same time period is the PPMA Show, which will be held just one hall away.
As Duncan Wood, managing director of Rapid Media, organiser of the other events, commented: “The more reasons you can present to encourage engineers to leave their desks the better – and a group of complementary shows is a proven route to doing this.”
Adding to this, Chris Jones, managing director of Micro-Epsilon UK, said: “Quite often, visitors will decide to attend an exhibition if there is more to see on the day. Many visitors have multiple areas of interest – not just sensors, or instrumentation, etc. – but the complete field of automation. Co-locating with other leading shows such as PPMA will allow them to do this.”
The Seminar Suite will again be a major focus of the event this year, with knowledgeable speakers from a variety of backgrounds holding presentations on a variety of subjects.
