Presentation abstract: Monitoring in the modern world (presented by Gary Church, Field Applications Engineer)
With a drive for more energy efficiency and safer systems, monitoring and measuring parameters of a system is becoming more important. Many parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, etc need to be measured and it is important to be aware of the industry’s latest developments in these areas. Some monitoring locations can be in inaccessible places which drive the need for a solution which can harvest or scavenge energy for power and communicate wirelessly. There is also a demand for more accuracy and lower power consumption from the measurement circuitry to improve performance and prolong or even eliminate the intervals between routine maintenance in the field. The session will discuss solutions for filtering and accurately measuring the information from a system which could then be powered from solar, heat and vibration and wirelessly communicating this via a highly reliable and very low power wireless link. There will be a mix of theory and demonstrations during the session.
