p40servoServo control specialist Inmoco has launched the high-density Elmo Drum HV (high voltage) digital servo drive. The Drum HV measures just 180 x 140 x 75.2mm yet delivers up to 62kW of continuous power. The Drum HV integrates a wide range of programming, feedback and communication options that facilitate rapid integration into any machine and allows OEMs the flexibility to operate with permanent magnet, synchronous brushless, DC brushed and linear motors.

The high-density and high-flexibility of the Drum HV means it can operate in position, velocity and current modes either as a network drive in distributed motion systems using the CANOpen interface, or as a standalone motion controller for single-axis servo control. This versatility is the result of Elmo’s SimplIQ technology, which combines advanced motion control with real-time networking capabilities and delivers a wealth of feedback, I/O options and programming capabilities. It is the SimplIQ technology that enables the Drum HV to bring more precision to a wide range of automated applications, including robotics, machine tools, packaging, semiconductor production, materials handling, sorting, printing, textiles and more.

Elmo’s Composer software, a Windows-based, third-generation, universal programming language is said to offer fast, straightforward and easy installation of the Drum HV in automated applications. It provides flexible and intuitive programming and smooth operation for single or multi-axis set-ups; manual and automatic tuning of current, velocity and position loops; a motion monitor and scope for testing, network monitoring and debugging tools; and facilitates communication via serial RS-232, CANopen.
